Aloha ..
Thank you for joining me on my blog..
My passion for art.. drawing, painting, creating, sewing, fabric art, photography, designing, crafting.. has always be apart of me .. deep in my soul.. I don't ever see ANYTHING in black and white so to speak.. it is completely covered in color .. and the crazier design or idea the better.. just ask my family... Lol!
I grew up always loving art and probably learned the most from my high school art teacher, Mrs. Oz for short. Her real last name is Osbourne and she was very eccentric as well. At least to me she was.. I always remembered she only worn one earring.. as she claimed to be on the phone too much to wear one on the other ear.. Unfortunately, she was my teacher in my senior year. She was the hardest, strictest most difficult to please teacher I ever had. Although not really being encouraged by my family growing up.. they always passed off my art interest and thought it was just that I liked to draw flowers and doodle.. but Mrs. Oz saw my talent and I developed, grew and realized my talent with her as my teacher and mentor.
I truly believe that everything happens for a reason.. and thats why I'm here today.. I lived in South Florida most of my life.. living mostly a normal type of life.. actually quite boring .. until I got married in 1985.. It was at that point .. my Husband encouraged me and supported me to be and explore my talents and has always done so even today. We were very fortunate to be able to travel and fishing became a great hobby for the both of us. We traveled lots of exciting places and have been able to see lots of God's beauty all over the world. Its wasn't till we were married almost 12 years that we decided to have children and were blessed with an awesome Daughter born exactly on her Daddy's Birthday, August 21st!.. Who would have guessed I would have been surrounded by Leos!.. I feel very privileged that I have been able to stay at home to raise our Daughter, although I was never home, MOM.. anyone knows that being a Mom, there is NEVER a dull moment.. !! We then moved to the Big Island of Hawaii.. and this is where my artistic talents start to really blossom.. I have always been creative and raising a Daughter with school projects, costumes, ideas for gifts.. I never settled for the simple ideas and always loved to make it a "special" project with my own unique touch!!!
Our family has always owned Cocker Spaniels.. from our first Norman, then Thunder and now our Herbert.. and we've always had a love for animals. I found that lots of people I've met, friends and family treat their pets like "furry family member".. completely spoiled!!
So when our second Cocker, Thunder passed I really started to focus on my Pet Portraits.. I started by giving them as special gifts to family and friends.. to remember their furry family in a very special way.. I just really "get into" drawing .. seeing and watching the picture... slowly develop on paper.. Each pet to me has such expressive eyes.. and even smiles.. They are sooo very unique creatures. They are always there, giving us a lick, furry hug.. and their undying unconditional love.. To me they are soo very inspirational.
In my mind, I am always creating... whether its an idea for a piece of clothing, handbag, covering a couch, to seeing beauty in God's creations in nature such as flowers and landscapes... and if I client .. is looking for something.. I am usually inspired by visiting with them and learning more about them..
Each and everyday... I see beauty, color, design and most likely find a crazy way to portray the most simplest of things...
I love being an artist and am truly thankful for the talent God has given me.. I look forward to each and everyday to see what I will be creating next... Please feel free to contact me if you would be interested in a unique creation .. an original pet portrait of your loving furry family member..
